Dan Reynolds, PhD

A high school English teacher, administrator, and university professor for 17 years, Dan has a bachelor’s in English and a master’s in Education from the University of Notre Dame, and a PhD in Language, Literacy, and Culture from Vanderbilt University with a specialization in statistics. Now an associate professor of education at John Carroll University, he’s a master in bringing out the best both high school students and their teachers. He’s published 19 peer-reviewed education research articles about adolescent literacy instruction, and his PhD dissertation showed a unique method of improving high schoolers’ ACT reading scores. He loves being a father to five amazing little kids, an outdoor enthusiast, and a baseball fan. He’s fluent in Spanish.

Celine Cumming, BS

Celine Cumming is originally from Minnesota, and received her Bachelor’s in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania. From there, she joined Teach for America and taught math and science at John Marshall IT High School in Cleveland. As a tutor, Celine is dedicated to data-driven learning and rigorous problem-solving. She acheived elite (94th percentile) results on her MCAT and is now a student at Case Western Reserve Medical School. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the Metroparks with her beloved dog Rudy, volunteering at several organizations in the Greater Cleveland area, and reading as much as possible.

Angela Fasick, MFA

Angela has over 25 years of teaching experience with students from 5 to 85. She graduated with a BA from John Carroll University and an MFA from the Iowa Writer’s Workshop at the University of Iowa. Most recently, she was the Director of Studies at Laurel School, where she also taught Upper School English and worked closely with College Guidance. Angela has deep experience partnering with families as they navigate the path through secondary school and on to college. She takes great satisfaction in helping students to achieve their potential and to write their own stories. Every day, she is amazed and heartened by the energy, resiliency, and commitment exhibited by students from across northeastern Ohio, and she believes in their power to make changes for the better.

Laura Reynolds, M.Ed.

A high school English teacher, administrator, and tutor for 17 years, Laura has a bachelor’s in French and English and a master’s in Education from the University of Notre Dame. She understands how high school kids learn, builds strong relationships with students and families, and coaches them for peak performance. A stay-at-home mom of five, she understands kids’ needs, teams with parents and families, and offers masterful expertise. She’s passionate about reading, advocating for immigrants, and good French cuisine. She’s fluent in French and Spanish, too.
